THEIR MASONIC INFLUENCE AND THE [UN]CONSTITUTIONAL PROCESS THEY ENTAILED

Abstract

In the legal history of Mexico as an independent country and its development over time, multiple constitutional reforms and mutations have undoubtedly stood out. However, it is inevitable that the pure legislative creations that have marked a turning point in legal practice and in the application of law and politics are particularly notable. In this context, we find the so-called “Reform Laws”, a set of written bills enacted through the formal legislative process and considered a milestone of liberalism. This article proposes that these legal norms were influenced by ideologies contrary to both the constitutionality of that time and the present, and that they also failed to uphold the fundamental values of the Mexican Nation.
